Here's a good recipe I made for a similar event recently. It can be served warm or cold and can sit out without a problem (handy in those situations!) It's also very easy to make and went over well when I brought it.

Chile Relleno Quiche

Ingredients:
10 eggs
1/2 cup flour
1 T baking power
1/8 t salt
1 pint cottage cheese
4 cups cheddar cheese, grated
2 4oz. cans of chopped green chiles
1/2 cup butter, melted

Preheat oven to 400 degrees; grease a 9x13 baking dish. In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs until light and fluffy. Mix together the flour, baking powder and salt and blend in well. Mix in the cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, chiles and butter. Pour into the prepared pan. Bake for 15 minutes; reduce heat to 350 degrees; continue baking for 20 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Tip: try cutting it into diamonds for serving.

See, why go to all that trouble when sausages on sticks are even better

The dairylea balls became popular when Dairylea brought out the spreading cheese in tubs. Folk, in Glasgow anyway, started to put their melon-ballers into use after they had been sitting in the kitchen drawer for 20 years.

Can't go wrong with that lot
That might fly at one of Gene Hunt's parties........

could also buy a big bag of frozen meatballs, and a few jars of pasta sauce - and then heat them up in a slowcooker - if you wanted a hot dish.

I make tandoori chicken on skewers and cook it on the grill.

Swedish meatballs are good but probably not for the summer. Put some sausage rolls out, they eat "pigs in a blanket" here, they'll find it very gourmet.

A few years ago I did a "party" for my daughter and her friends where I served all the 70's sausages on sticks and cheese and pineapple. Also made scones, they loved it.

I don't understand this recipe for Quiche?

The way the method is written seems to blend EVERYTHING together
