Party Food Ideas
I am hosting a suprise birthday party for my girlfriends 40th. Before I go down the catering route, I want to prove that I can at least hold my own when it comes to organising something. I know you ladies love that stuff.
Anyways, most of my guests will be Americans. I have been to enough parties to know what passes as standard buffet finger food here. Other than the usual dips, cheeses, fruit skewers, sandwiches etc, I wonder if you bright bunch can come up with something fun or unusual that I could provide my guests.
Uh-oh, blue touch paper lit... I am running to a safe place.

Re: Party Food Ideas
If you have a fondue pot, skewers etc, I always think they are fun at parties, you could do a cheese, chocolate or a steak fondue, some great recipes for the cheese ones on google.
Jello shots are fun too, I have been nominated as the jello shot maker in our neighbourhood, so if you want any help with those (if you chose to make them) I am happy to help with ideas
Good for you, for giving her a party! Good luck

Best party food ever:
1. Vol au vents
2. Little sausages on sticks
3. Little pickled onions, pineapple chunks and cheese cubes all stuck on cocktail sticks and stuck in a spud covered with tin foil.
4. Trifle
Can't go wrong with that lot

if your not up to making stuff yourself - get yourself down to costco and have a look in their fridge and freezer section. can buy large packs of stuff suitable for parties like:
mozzerella sticks
chicken flutes (little rolled up fajita things)
chicken nuggets
potstickers (chicken/veg dumplings)
large salsa/dips and chips
veggies for slicing up and dipping
pizza
etc etc

Leester, you'd better have some BBQ on hand.

i like doing a fish platter - it looks fab and people are always impressed, but its dead easy to put together.... cooked salmon fillets, buy some of those smoked mackerels and slice them, crab sticks if you can get them, prawns, smoked salmon, arrange on a large plate, with slices of lemon... add anything else fishy you fancy, and voila, people go wow!
well they do in my world, where vol au vents are "ooh aint that fancy" and cheese and pineapple on sticks is gourmet

I would do some of these -
Ham and asparagus quiche
Tomato tart with flaky pastry
White chocolate and raspberry cheesecake
Raspberry and Orange trifle
Cola cake
Lots more but would need to get out my cookbooks
