Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up
Hi, Rosie - It was so sad for me to see all that you complain of in Frome - To think back to 1971, when 'Joan' my Second Wife and I enjoyed our honeymoon in the area ( actually stayed at a cottage in Chapmanslade) - Frome was then so lovely, clean, and inviting.
Sign of the times- I don't think so - just overall bad manners and upbringing.
Take Care. Don

A common question, whats the weather like today in the UK and how do you feel about it?
For those of you who moved back to the UK, do you wish you had moved back sooner-earlier?
Cheers

And no to the second bit, no point even considering that question as I can't change the past

Re: Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up
There have been a lot of postings on here about pets going to the UK so I thought I would pass along this warning.
On another forum someone posted that they had just located to the UK with a couple of pets and within a few days of being back one of the cats escaped through the front door. That was a week ago and the kitty hasn't returned yet.
What a blow!
Cheers

We very often write about the great benefits of free bus travel in the UK for those who are old enough to qualify but I was curious what bus fares cost and in the one sample I got it was outrageous. Try this, £4.60 for a 10 minute ride. Tell me I am wrong.
Cheers

Where is that fare for? And is that 10 inches you are referring to?

In making my plans to return, I like to cover ALL possibilities, so . . . how long do you have to wait before you can file for unemployment benefits after you return? I don't think I will need it but it is always better to be prepared.

anyone NOT of working age (as they say here) which is 65 for a man and a little younger for a woman at the moment still, they CANT apply for unemployment benefits, regardless if they are entitled to any part of a British state pension or not!!!!
