Over 40's Moving Back and Catching Up

Re: OVER 50's & 60's Chit-Chat & Daily Catch-Up Thread
I tried the first half hour and then gave up because it was so turgid and dull.
I am glad others got bored too because the newspaper reviews were all fawning about what a great program it was, and how much better it was than Downton. I was so confused. Was I watching the wrong show?

At least we get Downton back tonight

Great to hear I am going to watch tonight - Sunday evening here on the West coast. My most exciting purchase this weekend -a HDMI cable which allows me to stream to my laptop both video and audio onto my 32 TV. Meaning I can have a proper TV experience watching, Shhh sadly Corrie, and of course Downton,

Does anyone know if there is a way to see the current episode of Downton...stream it perhaps...here in the US?

Assuming ITv have posted it on their Iplayer website then there are a variety of services out there. Some cost (this subject is well covered in many threads here). Personally I find Expat Shield works just fine and its free.

Ooh. Just found some really bad reviews and warnings on cnet about expat shield. Some people have found it screws up their computers. Any other places you could suggest?

Sile, I've used expat shield for about 2 years now. I love it. It has not caused any problems with my computer.

I don't think I can as there are some people who don't want to be spoiled before it airs over there. But I concur with everyone else - it's very easy to watch from over there. ExPat Shield seems OK. If you have a Mac, Tunnelbear is excellent although you have to pay a small monthly fee to get enough bandwidth to watch TV shows. I used to pay $5 a month for a service that I found via Google but I can't remember the name of now. Just google VPN + UK TV shows and you'll find plenty of options.
If you understand bittorrent files, you can also download the episodes to your computer from sites like Isohunt.
My only disappointment was Shirley Maclaine. I thought she struggled with her lines and didn't come across as an equal adversary for Maggie Smith.

It was fantastic! I have to agree I think Maggie Smith came out on top last night but you could tell Shirley was getting up her nose and I suppose that's half the battle. Great to see the series back, can't wait for next Sunday !
