I tried to get the day off work, but couldn't. It's impossible to get a Friday off where I work (unless you give at least 6 months notice). I plan on getting up early to watch it. Coverage starts at 4 am Eastern time and the actual ceremony starts at 6 am. I start work at 8 am but I can go in late as long as I stay late and make up the time at the end of the day. Yes, I will be watching. I wouldn't miss it!! :)

!

As there's no restriction on how much we can buy, I'm wondering what dose you were on. Unless there are restrictions in the US. None in Canada, and none here.

There are no legal restrictions but it's not something you should be self-medicating with because at high doses it can be very dangerous. If a person already has normal levels of Vit D and takes the dosage I was taking (50,000 IU per week), he or she could poison themselves and I didn't want to be responsible for that

After a blood test, a doctor can tell you how much it's safe to take because they know what level you're starting at.

But over the counter Citra-Cal would be safe for anyone (that's 600IU a day) - it just wouldn't make a dint in the problem for someone who was seriously deficient.

Thanks Bee!! I'll get to watch some of it but then I have to go to work, but I'll tape all of the coverage. Of course, I could play hooky, but with 9% plus unemployment here, that probably isn't a good idea!

If you download Expat Shield you can watch any UK TV player for free.

Honestly it is soooo easy to use, give it a try. :)

i tried but will try again. another expat gave me instructions as well on how she views british telly in the US.. I get over 100 channels on US telly and basically watch sames ones over and over again. hgtv etc. house hunters especially. i got bbc america again for royal wedding only. will cancel it again once 4/29 gone. all they show is endless episodes of star trek, top gear (not my cuppa) and repeats of kitchen nightmares I saw years ago. the idea of cancelling cable and use like expat shield becomes more appealing but not a techie so need to figure out how to do it so bro and i can watch tv in same rooms. thanks beeduyba

At least it will be an easy prospect to watch in Aus and one of the stations is going to cover it.

I can remember sitting with DS1 watching Charles and Diana's wedding (we borrowed a telly for the occasion) and DS1 squealing with delight "she waved at ME mummy, she waved at ME!) Wonder if the DGD will be allowed to watch this one (her parents are anti telly, as were we at their age!)

Health Canada recommends a daily dose of 400IU for anyone over the age of 50. Citracal regular has 400IU of D and Citracal maximum has 500IU. There are other formulations of Citracal so I am guessing you are taking the Plus D or something similar.
My daily vitamin Jamiieson Super Vita-Vim has 400IU. I also swear by taking a B-complex as it heals the nervous system and stress-related conditions .

The recommended daily dose here is 600IU.

Apparently this dosage was recommended to both the Canadian and US governments, but perhaps the Canadians didn't agree.

Seems strange that the recommended dose for people from nine to "71 and older" could be the same .
When I Googled it, it seems that the recommended daily doses are all over the map... from 200iu to 2000iu... and the age groups also vary widely. I suppose you have to go with your intuition.

I don't need intuition - I have the pain to go by  When it starts to come back, I pop a 5,000IU tablet and it goes away again. Most of the time I'm fine with just 600IU though.

I really do wish you could see a doctor chriswinter. It's truly outrageous that you can't.

That is a lot! Interesting that it had such good effect. I'd not heard of it being so beneficial for pain.

I take 2000 IUs a day in winter and 1000 in summer, and it's been a big help with SADD. I've checked up, and no one seems to have a problem with that sort of amount.

All the stats I've seen suggest that most people in latitudes like Britain are Vit D deficient these days, especially in winter, and it's linked to many diseases including MS and cancers.

Time for the blood test to be a regular part of a check up, I think.

OOoohh that is interesting Bevm, are you referring to that Seasonal Affective Disorder? My daughter said she could never live here due to the lack of sunshine and she just knows she would suffer from SAD.

There are some Jersey Royals around but still rather expensive. Was told they will soon come down in price. We have loads of mint in the garden to go with them. Have started making mint tea with the leaves. Supposed to be very good for you. Digestion and relaxation. Sounds good to me.
