One down, one to go :-(
So, I finally got my MRI for my brain and just got the results this week. It seems I've got a pineocytoma, which is a tumor on the pineal gland, right in the middle of the brain. The consultant has told me that he's "almost sure" that this is what it is and that it's benign but they will have to monitor it and I will be re-called in 6 months time to see if its grown. Bad news is that it explains all my symptoms, which are getting slightly worse ie headaches/migraines/visual stuff going on/dizziness etc. If this thing grows, it would cause hydrocephalus because it will eventually block the flow of cerebro-spinal fluid and I would then require a shunt to be put in. So all in all, I suppose this is good news, they don't think it's a malignant mass, so why do I not feel relieved :( I think its because I still have to get the CT scan on my chest to check the "abnormal" lymph nodes they found when I got an x-ray done when I had bronchitis. If this is a test to see if my future lies in the US, then there isn't much else they can throw at me at this point, so bring it on!!! With everything, I still love my life here at this point and the more things that happen, the more determined I am to make this work for our family. Just thought I'd share, don't quite know what I'd do without you guys

Re: One down, one to go :-(
Sending you hugs. Glad you at least know what it is now and is not too sinister. If you ever want to rant feel free to send me a FB message.
My mum has had several CT scans over the years (she seems to be collecting illnesses and Dr's don't know what is currently wrong with her) Anyway, when she had her first scan and she saw her brain on the screen later on, she was glad as she now had proof it was actually there! She asked if she could have a wallet size pic of it for the next time someone called her stupid or brainless! They didn't give her one though. |

Re: One down, one to go :-(
Aw, sorry to hear you're having to deal with all this but at least they've found out the cause of your symmptoms. Hang in there!
|
Re: One down, one to go :-(
Thinking of you, love, and crossing fingers for a positive "negative" response on the CT.

Anyway, hope all goes well! :) |

There's some funky software I saw someone work on that would take that data and create a 3D model of the results so you can zoom around your innards :D
Anyway, hope all goes well! :) |

Oooo that sounds cool. By the way the only reason they give you them on DVD is so you have them to take to whatever specialist/doctor you may have to see. They aren't doing it out of generosity.

I imagine there is a charge for them too.

Very probably. They charge for everything else.
Whem M had an MRI after his dive from the roof we had to take the CD with us to the surgeon. Of course, being nosy, I looked at it first. There was one view of his shoulder and upper arm that looked just like a woodpecker was hiding in amongst the bones and cartilage. Looked really weird:lol: |

All best wishes to you honey. Hope the other results are good news for you:wub: Was the consultant you saw a Neurologist? If not it may be good to get another opinion from a Neurologist or a Neuro Surgeon. |
Re: One down, one to go :-(

Re: One down, one to go :-(
OMG I'm overwhelmed, yet again, from the support that I get from you guys, please believe me, it makes it all so much easier to deal with. I've been feeling pretty rough the last few days with constant pressure in my head, so reading all these posts, I can't thank you enough. Yeah, I had a nosey at the dvd too, obviously I have a lot of anatomy knowledge through my work and you can see it so clearly, really weird looking at your brain right enough, at least I know I've got one :D, and yes, it was a Neuro-surgeon I saw, so I need to trust him and his diagnosis. Thank you everyone, you've really made me feel more positive
