Thanks for the reply and heads up on the education - its good to hear someone with children give their opinion I tell myself I am doing it for my son, because that way its all worth it. But then you 2nd guess youself.

We too were on the Shore, in Glenfield. Now in Matamata.

All the very best.

Congratulations Janeyk....it has to work out better for you this time I'm sure.

My NZ to UK update 5 months on? Wild horses wouldn't drag me back to NZ. I feel like I am not bothered if I never fly out abroad from UK ever again (I will of course) still just really relieved to be back and I now have nice brand new house that has all finally 'come together' this week with the delivery of a new sofa. Looking forward to extended family Christmas in a hotel - all together for the first time in 5 years.

Kids happy at school and having lovely Autumnal weather. Obama re-elected...all is well with the world despite Jimmy S
avile etc etc

CAR EXPORT UPDATE: It cost GBP6,600 in total to export two oldish cars from NZ to UK and to get them on the road in UK. This figure includes everything including 'roll on roll off' ferry Wellington to Southampton, modifications to rear fog light and speedometers/ tyres and insurance for 12 months. It also included an agent collecting them from UK port, doing all the work and us simply having to drive them away.(www.specialised-shipping.co.uk)
VIN insurance was with Churchill.

It was a lot to spend but it would have cost more to buy two new cars here so given that we were able to borrow a car whilst we waited 4 months for them to arrive, it probably was worth it although it is a close run thing.

Good luck to everyone also making the move back. I think if like me you never really wanted to leave in first place but did for OH's job, then it is a no brainer and you are bound to have positive attitude. Higher quality of tv and radio, choice in supermarkets, cheap central heating and Winter Christmas are tangible benefits of UK for me - not to mention proximity of extended family.
