Neither blue, not grey. Not from you anyway...

But it's the thought that counts. You can always vote the right way on the Opera Poll

To answer your other question I have been here for 10yrs.
Do you get back to England much then? Would you not consider moving back with you family?

I don't think this person is planning on moving to the US to sign on, so this is pretty much a pointless discussion - hardly worth badgering the man about it.

I spent a lot of time over here with my husband before we came to the US to live. I thought I knew what to expect too. WRONG.

It is an enormous culture shock. Suggest you read back through the threads for about a month or so, that should give you a reasonable insight to how Brits really feel about everyday life here.

Well it was only because he kept goingon about how the British Government won't pay for his mortage...

Marry a yank well thats probably the easiest of all the routes.
80's sounds nice Thanks for the input around the inter company, I tried that one and basically they told me to F off Marry a Yank - a bit difficult in old blighty

How long you been over there for?

Wouldn't you say, though, that Ray might not be able to offer some useful advice?

Where is Ray anyway? Someone get him out of the pool!

I think what he meant was that he didn't care that welfare in the US is sh*t (a point which you brought up) because in the UK the govt are hardly going to pay his mortgage either (so from that we can deduce that he's not a paraplegic single-parent asylum seeker anyway).

Well, there's Woodsey and Eskimo... But they're on L1 transfer + GC sponsorship + 6-figure salary. Hardly typical...

Ah another problem that befalls us expats. The one foot in each country, belonging to none syndrome.

Problem is that everthing and everbody in the UK has moved on and I have moved on with my life in the US for the past 10 yrs. So I don't know if I could settle back there, I just don't know.

We think that when my hubby retires we will have to go back as it is too expensive to live here. OK if you have a job, money, health care, good health, but once you start to need regular mediciations or have a major health problem that's when the sh*t hits the fan.
