Hi Tracy,er just read through again, missed that post.Just thought Id add a bit more.
Jobs,my OH commutes from Devon and Somerset,he works there, and is going
to do that till we have paid for house,(because of the wages)There are plenty of jobs,.
The countryside is still beutiful, with or without tourists, they bring the money in to keep everthing going, and so to keep it nice.
Having lovely Grandparents is a treat,I lost my parents when I was young,my kids never knew thier grandparents.
Oh I forgot doesnt having tourists create even more jobs(even if its only summer ones.
Tracey have a great move I think you will love it.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
(Oh yes,for the certain few who say,why did she move if its so great, well we love it over here to)

He's a charming chappie that Howard fella. Such a bundle of laughs!!!

As for jobs, my OH has one waiting for him when we get back and I've been in touch with teaching agencies who say I won't have a problem finding relief work.

As for the tourists in Devon, well, yeah, there are tourists, so what? Like you say, they keep Devon thriving economically. We won't be living in a seaside town, so I doubt they will be much of a hassle as far as our daily lives go.

I would suggest most of you stop thinking like 18 year old School Girls, moving is done for the long term benefit of the Family, primarily the children.

Tourist create service jobs, seasonal, low paying, no long term career, they clog everything up and only a few Business people make any money, the locals certainly don't, unless the occupy a service position.

Devon an Somerset are lovely, but the Locals resent new comers, and part time Relief Teaching won't help save fr a down payment on expensive Real Estate.

Let's agree to disagree, reality is however, sounds like most of you expect hubby to carry the load.

The only thing that can bug you about living with holiday makers is the traffic...I live in two holiday area's....and its nice to see people having fun...its also nice to know they can only come here once or twice a year and you can stay all the time....

Traffic is my biggest moan next to it being humid....but you just make use of the place different times of the year...the Holiday makers go home really at the best time to enjoy any area...Fall....and they are not yet here in the spring...so I get miles of empty beach to myself and lovely warm weather......or the Theme parks nearly empty....

I have no idea why people want to see the down side to everything....all the time...

You seem to be a very patronising person Howard. How dare you assume that you know what Tracey and her husband are going to do about their future finances

Why do you keep posting on this forum when you offer no constructive advice or help? Are you that bored that you have started a personal crusade to stop people returning to their homeland? Or do you get some kind of satisfaction from posting negative, nasty comments?

Im not sure where you are comming from, putting the other stuff aside(because the others have said and very well thier points)
The"acting like 18yr old" comment and "hubby to carry the load".
I can only asume that you have a large chip on your shoulder regarding women, because I would think most of the woman on here live in 2007, and probaly bring up familys,go to work to support there husbands, and probably
work together to survive,of course thats only my humble opinion. Its a matter of working together and belittling the female role is very unkind.

I come from Somerset and I never minded newcomers....I was a bit more picky with whom I talked to when my bit went up market and became Avon...

Yes it is true that you don't become a local in parts of Cornwall for many many years...if ever..my mum grow up there and even she says that....but I can't say its the same for Devon and Somerset...lovely places lovely people...

Given the difficulties of the situation most of these women on here face, they appear to be taking steps to increase their confidence. They all seem to have fantastic coping skills. Equally this will appply to "the hubby" who in all probability is drawing his ability to cope from the females in his life.

Thank for your offer to suggest they stop thinking like 18 year old schoolgirls, but they will cope quite well as they are without the need for this advice.
