And by the way: If you ever have any hope of making it here, remember it is vital you do not order a cappacino after 10:30 am Why 10:30? Well prob cos that's when the breakfast menu ends :D Reminds me of that Michael Douglas movie about the guy having a bad day.

I my self am not totally de-cloned yet as i can often be seen sucking on a coffee milk ,in the uk last year i also fretted and my addiction was cured when sucking on small bottles of banana flavoured milk .
I still cant work out why you cant get into a restaurant after 7-30 pm on a friday night in leederville ,they always tell me they arnt taking anymore and are closing soon .

I think I've got it. I thought Godzone meant the people who like Oz so it makes a bit more sense now.

I guess most people get gloomy sometimes, last night I saw "Night at the Museum" with an American couple who seemed in imminent danger of splitting their sides at every lame minute of it, it made me feel that really getting into American culture was some way off.

I have to admit to being quite fond of vanilla malt milk. Not always easy to find though. I first came across it in brissy and thoguht ..this is good stuff!

Friday and saturday nights are the busiest in restaurant game, so I'm thinking that you got turned away due to number of bookings they have between 7:30 and 10pm. Most don't have the kitchen open after that time I think.

Have you only struck this problem in leederville? I'd have thought it would be perth wide.

To complicate matters even more...the term 'Godzone' I recall being used to describe NZ back in the 70s. It wouldn't surprise me if the aussies stole it and claimed it was their term. They are always doing that, trying to lay claim for some well known NZ'er or NZ product etc as being Australian

As for American culture... OZ is definitely more americanised than nz. NZ retains a more English character, with the exception perhaps of young Maori who have gotten onto the African-American culture through rap music etc

Another forum I use labels the NZ/Aus setcion as Dununder and Godzone, and the Godzone bit there is referring to NZ.

Yep. I always considered 'Downunder' as referring to OZ and 'Godzone' as referring to NZ. I think 'Godzone' has been used to describe the pro oz faction in BE mainly due to Australia being a much more populated forum than NZ and also as a tongue-in-cheek comment. I also note that at least one member lists 'Godzone' as their location, so that probably also adds to it's association with OZ on BE

Yes in the world of perth i have found it a major problem ,when is this city going to grow up and stop airing on the side of caution ,any thoughts of trying to enjoy oneself is stamped on by the enjoyment police .God knows what international visitors think of perth ,with a population of 1.4 mill you would think it would have a bit more to offer apart froma grotty casino and restaurants that shut at 10pm .
