This is the Moving Back to the UK Forum...

...not the Australia is s**t forum.

This used to be one of my favourite forums on here but now it is cluttered with cr***y threads started by people who have been chased away from the Oz boards.
FFS strap on a set, keep your Oz stuff where it belongs and stop littering this section of BE.

Whilst I have every sympathy for people who may not be happy with their move I would greatly appreciate it if you could keep your Oz specific stuff to the Oz section where it belongs.

Thank you and goodbye

It might have something to do with the fact the majority of people here are going to or thinking about returning to the uk ,and after all we all know here that the uk is fab .So for that reason we cant really talk about the uk that much because we all know it great but we can talk about australia because its crap .
Some of us dont want to post on the otherside much now because our opinions are not of value in the clone zone .So we have to post here now and its not long before we get invaded .Its certainly turned into a us and them scenario and its a shame .
I would suggest to if you are not happy with the threads that you start one of your own ,present one not included of course .

Plenty of room for everyone thats going back (and those of us that would like to but can't!) - I find it interesting to read the differing reasons why people go home from so may different places - really makes you think about what a strong pull "home" has got :)

Majority rules. Most people move to Oz ergo a higher number will be unhappy and ready to move back. If the people in the clone zone were less vitriolic and one eyed about happy happy dingo land, perhaps we'd hang around up there. But as it is, it's easier to be here amongst like minded people.

I understand what you're saying but you have sheer numbers against you. And I ain't going anywhere (unfortunatley), nor do I intend to adjust my postings because they don't suit you. As they say in every other forum I'm involved in, don't like a thread? ignore it, and post a thread of your own.

Take a look at the % of threads from people seeking genuine info about MBTTUK and those that are Oz bashing, I think you'll find the latter in the minority. You should also note that the same people contribute to all threads (or most) so really the Oz bashing is just a sideline to the main reason for this forum, and without it, a lot of us would be severly more unhappy than is the case now.

Yeh, people post from all over the world,, not just Aus, and reading other migrants stories can maybe prevent a few wrong moves. I certainly will be going to OZ (coz I wanna be closer to No1 son till he is older but can't stand NZ any longer) with my eyes wide open and expecting no miracles. :)
Still would really wish for us all to be back in Uk after going back in August and seeing how good it really is still. :)

Just out of interest, why are most of the posters on this part of the forum either coming back from, already in or going to Aus? There don't seem to be many from the US or Canada. I'm generalising of course.

Possibly because - generally speaking - its easier to get into Aus. Apparently there is a greater percentage that go to Aus as tradespeople/skills visa applicants as opposed to Spouse/Partner visas - hence its easier to come back. You go as a family and come back as a family. But if you have a spouse whose home is in Aus you will always feel torn as a couple as to where "home" is because one partner will always be a migrant. Reading the US and to a lesser extent the Canadian threads, more people go for family and relationship reasons. There is less of a culture of "lets all try it and see" when crossing the Atlantic - probably because of the different migration rules.

You see the "i want to go and work in Florida cos its sunny and hot" threads which come to nothing, often because the person has no family in the US and not enough cash to buy there way into a business. Here we see a lot of "I want to go and work in Australia cos its sunny and hot" - they succeed, then discover that nowhere is paradise.

Other factors play a role too of course - 24 hours + to fly home from Aus - much quicker and cheaper from the US or CAnada when you need your "fix" of the UK.

There have been quite a few who have been working in the States on short term work Visas as well. So more a case of 'It will be an experience for a while', but not life changing.
The Florida ones are amusing aren't they?

Thats part of it I suppose - people come here on permanent visas, expecting to stay for life, and then end up unsettled, and having to make just as big a move back. More US visas are temporary, so they are expecting to go back and having tried to sever their ties with the UK in such a lasting way.

It is surprising what the perception is, I had a semi heated debate with my Sisters boyfriend about that. He reckoned she could just turn up and adjust her VWP :D

What about creating a seperate , new forum for people who are unhappy with life in OZ apart from the moving back to Uk forum. Anyone have any idea's what to call it? It would be sort of the opposite of the ' barbie ' forum for people who don't like OZ or the OZ lifestyle. l think this new forum should be created because the moving back to uk forum has been overtaken by people compalining about OZ so people moving back from other countries, like Europe, Canada, NZ and people who have other question like cost of shipping etc, are being drowned out and can't get a chance to be heard properly.

I thought this thread was going to be about Godzoners not unhappy people slagging something off!

I'd say this one-eyed thing works both ways.

That's actually not a bad idea. Could get quite heated though - and the forum 'intent' would be quite negative and therefore not good for a serous site. I'm sure the owners would not want a deliberate forum for 'hatred'!
