Yeah they are thieving bastards. When I had to have an MRI done, the specialist gave me a referral to a private hospital, they even booked the appt for me while I was there
- cost me $600. Then I found out afterwards that it was available, both free and quickly in the public hospital. :curse:
Makes me sooooooooo mad!!!!!!

Good luck .I'm not surprised .Anyone have to deal with being overcharged by Telstra yet?. They cut us off because we paid what we owed them and not the overcharge.
They can be the most bureaucratic buch in the world.
No idea of service.A seriously backward place in many ways

They wouldn't know good service if it bit them on the bum.
When we moved into our present house, a unit we arranged for the electrical supplier (AGL) to connect us on the Friday we moved in they told us not to switch on till 6pm which we did, or at least we tried. Now bearing in mind that they had the house number and the number on the metre we didn't think there was a problem. When we switched on nothing happened. When we rang up it appeared that the person had been to connect us had been but reported that the power was already connected (yes, the other unit :curse::curse
, we asked to be connected but they refused saying that they don't connect on a weekend. It was winter, our heating and cooking in this house is electric we have children but still no, had to wait till Monday. We have had one bill from them the first quarter then nothing despite ringing and enquiring only to be told not to worry they were posting one soon. Long story short, 11 months on we receive our second bill, huge bill. Posted out to the householder, we have given them our name on several occasions.
So it seems that it was too much to expect good service, since they cannot even do their jobs right. My Aussie workmates when I told them of this srugged their shoulders and said what can you do?

Btw I have no problems naming and shaming bad service or naming and recommending good service.
On another matter, just got the fees for the kids STATE school next year $650 EACH
, I wouldn't mind but for the amount of times they have come home and told me they had a sub teacher who told them to read a chapter and answer the questions at the end, and they were allowed to wear ipods
, not so much teaching as babysitting. Then there are books and stationary on top of that.Good service I don't think I have had any since I came here, unless the young man that followed me round BevMarks bedshop is classed as good service but I thought he was just making sure I didn't shove a queen divan up my jumper and walk out

I have heard horror stories about ambulance charges so it was one of the first things we did when we moved here was get ambo cover.
We now have the 'top notch' health insurance which is a big fat rip off.
Ive just had a dodgy mole removed at a cose of $150 for the procedure, $76 for the consultation and $15 for the path test to check if it is cancer.
The doctor had to come out to my house in the evening to change my dressing and I told him I couldnt afford to keep paying for dressings that had fallen off as I had got hot and sweaty. He must have felt sorry for me and bulk billed the house visit to Medicare.
If this mole is cancerous I have to have more cut out and christ knows how I will pay for it because surpise surprise, Medibank do not cover skin cancer treated in a clinic.
Ive threatened to reduce my cover and they were really upset about it, but Im sorry when you pay for full cover, one would think skin cancer would be a priority.
Thieving gits.

Don't ever call an ambulance in OZ
My son had one take him to the hospital last week for a bump on the head. I didn't want one, they insisted they should take him to the hospital which is 10 mins away from my house.
Got a bill today for $607,00
I wanted to drive him to the hospital myself, it's only over the bloody road, but they never mentioned it would cost me that much, jeez!!!
Great living here innit

In the UK you can be charged for the ambulance service if your trip to hospital is as a result of a road traffic accident......not a lot of people know that

Not sure what it's got to do with Jesus! However the fact you have to pay for ambulances has always been one of my pet hates about Australia. As far as I'm concerned that is just wrong.
People should not have to think twice about calling an ambulance due to worrying if they can afford it!
The same goes for visiting the dentist. Although I think you now have to pay at dentists in UK too so it's not unique to here, but I know a lot of people who never see a dentist due to the cost.
