I found the best thing for me to do was fill up a bath with cold water and keep dipping in and out of it

Yes, it's funny how you take it out on your nearest and dearest isn't it?
I am trying to be cool, calm and collected about this heatwave, and I'm OK till something p***es me off and then its :curse::curse::curse:

I asked my old man how he felt the other day (Tues 45.7 in the shade!) upon his return from work (bearing in mind he is a forklift engineer and is usually working in old tin sheds all day in the worst of crappy conditions!) to which he replied (in his best 'I am a pom and we are hard bas****s' tones) c'mon then, bring it on! Now that's spirit - gotta love 'im!!!!

Mine is getting to be a long moan!

I am banking on the fact that we have a conference of AGW/climate change fanatics taking place in Canberra this weekend - such things have always been known to bring on a cool change so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I know it isnt abnormal, it happens every few years but that doesnt make it any easier to deal with.

I do feel for all you poor peeps in Adelaide and Melbourne.

Not much better here in Perth. Was 40 degrees with over 50% humidty today where we are. Wish I could be playing in the snow at the moment. Unfortunately OH would never consider moving back to the UK. :(

I'd get on a plane tomorrow if I could.

I said before I came back that I thought it was the right thing to do, I dont think I have ever said Ive been entirely happy since returning to UK cor blimey you have taken it the wrong way !!

Yep, just actually read through some of my old stuff and pre-UK return did say I couldnt wait to come back, since then other than a few little bits havent actually said my family is settled back here.

And did you not noticethe little symbol afterwards - it was tongue in cheek

This last week they've all been moaning about the heat, and I said 'hang on, I thought you all loved the heat, what's the problem'?

I usually get a reply like 'oh we don't like it TOO hot', which is great because then I reply with 'oh, so you're whinging then, I thought only us Brits did that?'. I usually follow it up with a 'have you ever heard me complain about the cold, either here or when I've been home'? (it was minus 8 when I was there at Xmas). This confuses them greatly (which isn't hard, let's face it) and I get a kind of rabbit in the headlights look.

Hypocritical morons, the lot of em. I hope they drown in their own sweat:cool:

* I try hard not to talk them if at all possible, but alas, sometimes it is unavoidable. Like nails down a blackboard.

I like the cut of your jib.

For all you lucky people moaning about the heat, picture this-

House freezing (even tho you plough £200 oil
+ £90 elec a month into it)
Scraping ice of windscreens on /off for 3-4 months.
Having to wash grit of your car every week (well i dont but some do)
Kids glued to sofa moaning its too cold to do anything.
Nothing to do, but ramble on this forum from the sofa, and watch our ecomomy collapsing on tv, whilst its getting up a gale outside and awaiting the big snow storm forcasted!

Its funny, when we came back from our reccie end of October, we marvelled at the sprinkling of snow on the cairngorms as we flew into Inverness," oh how we will miss the changing seasons" we said with tears in our eyes "and what about traditional christmas, arranging our holly wreaths and trees?"
Are we doing the right thing emigrating?
(just read my last moaning posts!)
Well, weve been home 3 months since our trip, and the Uk has been now seriously grating our cheese since boxing day:rofl:
I wonder if i ever get to Oz, I will be moaning about the heat?
I would kill to be in all your positions, sitting by the pool

Oh yeah, when you're in the sun you'll find it's the land of rainbows and unicorns, all your dreams will come true, and you'll be in constant state of euphoria.

Don't worry, all the negative stuff you thought about? Like the no changing seasons, and the feeling funny at christmas because of it not being traditional? It never feels like that. Yeah... right.

Come on January and February are always crap in the UK.Wait until you are enjoying the 45 degree days.
The pool will be full of freaked out insects and snakes and at night the mozzies will devour you.
Alternatively you could turn on the tv and get some wonderful intelligent programmes as the kangaroos and koalas jump past your window.
You'll soon be bored
