Guns in the UK
#16
It's places like that which leads to a lot of legal guns ending up in the hands of criminals, usually get a druggie who doesn't have a record to go get a gun and bring it back for drugs, sort of thing.

I said they could pinpoint noise, whether that noise was alien to them and how they reacted to it is more important than the noise itself.
What if a blind woman is being raped?
Then should we disarm the police and soldiers? Now that would be silly.
My point is to dismiss the right ( and I'm talking US now ) for a blind person to have a gun is not as ridiculous as it first sounds and certainly not a case for ridicule of those who are impaired.

FWIW, I've only ever witnessed one gun crime and that was in the UK. Having said that there is no way that the UK has a gun crime problem that comes anywhere near that of the USA.

I don't think you can compare blind target shooting with giving concealed carry permits to visually impaired (if thats what Iowa have done?)
My nephew was discharged from the British Army following serious head injury which left him blind in one eye, and only very restricted vision in the other. He misses the Army like hell, and used to love shooting, so I took him to the shooting range when he visited last year. He did OK, but he would be the first to say that there is no way he should be allowed to carry a gun for self defense...target identification on a range is very different to target identification in a live shooter situation. And the consequences of getting it wrong are significantly different, too....

The capacity to pinpoint noise with unerring accuracy is also noted. My friend is blind, and had to pull me out of the way when we heard a car really speeding. I insisted it was coming from the left; he insisted it was coming from the right. He was correct of course.
Having said that, there are enough problems with sighted eejits and their weapons without giving guns to the unsighted.
.......it poses a personal problem for me. If Customs tightens up then I will never get my AK47 through, even though I painted it pink.
Problems, problems.

No it certainly isnt just you, it is insanity but it fits in well with all the other gun related insanity in the States.

Only for short arms...but depending on the state, you can just get one privately, without any background checks.

The gun situation in the States is totally out of control, my feeling is there is no turning back as there are just too many influential gun nuts that wont allow change.

No, not just you....... I'm still trying to work that one out
