Glad to hear your schooling is working ok for you.
Unfortunately in the west the choice is more limited. We were recommended the school by other Britvicers, who had moved their children to it, after having been disappointed with the other local schools.
To be fair, I think it depends on the age of your children to a degree, if they are teenagers, hopefully they are strong enought to take the opportunities available. If they are starting school for the first time, you have no real comparison and therefore don't do the compare. The difficulty seems to be for those from about 6 to 12, who need the culture in school to be positive and guiding in both a sporting and acedemic sense.
Good luck with your move back, when your time comes.
Pete

pete i have a 9 year old too and thankfully her schooling is ok as well,
, these schools were just down to luck rather than advice, but it could have easily gone the other way!!

Picking the right school can be hard.
A mate of mine moved from Geelong to Point Cook- a lot based on being near a school for her 14 year old. Her daughter hates it and finds the work unchallenging, complains about no homework (strange child!) and hates school, whereas in Geelong she loved school.
Mate is now looking at private alternatives as she cannot bear her daughter to be so unhappy.
Good luck with your move back to UK

[QUOTE=pommybird;6247315]Welcome!! Yes there's loads of us who have decided a life in the UK is preferable to a life in Oz - we've been back in the UK 20 months now and not one day I have regretted coming home.
Same here! We have been back in the UK a year tomorrow, after spending just six months in Sydney, best thing we ever did was to come home
