So it's a freezing cold Saturday night here in New Jersey.
I'm sitting at home (alone) with a large glass of red wine, some chocolate covered Aussie Macadamia nuts....and watching the film "Pride and Prejudice" (the one starring Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennett and Matthew MacFadyan as Mr. Darcy).
The cinematography is beautiful....I've just seen a shot of a scene set in the Peak District (Derbyshire) and it's breathtaking.
Feeling homesick right now....

I'm wondering if the horrible winter weather has a lot to do with everyone feeling miserable. It has been such a long, cold, snowy winter. I'm hoping that when spring comes, everyone feels a little better. I know it won't stop a lot of people from feeling homesick, but I do think that the nice weather can make a difference to one's mood. I know I always feel better in the spring.
Spring is just around the corner. Hang on in there!

My American friends are reporting flocks of robins, which they seem to see as the sign of spring. (Different birds, of course, because English robins don't flock anymore than cats walk at heel!
)
Anyway, they were reported in Florida,and yesterday in Maryland. So they're heading north!
Meanwhile, it's a sunny day in Devon, with spring flowers starting to show. Sorry about that.

Mind you, we are getting a 'heatwave' today; it's well above freezing for the first time in months, a clear blue sky and the snow is melting (temp is approx 52F) but will cool down again after today and below freezing at night. I've even got the windows open and getting some fresh air in.....and I'm going to to out for a walk....

How nice that you have a milder climate in California....here in NJ Spring is always very late (typically at the end of April) which was a big shock to me when we moved here - although the snowdrops bloom in late March....then it lasts for 2-4 weeks and then straight into the hot Summer weather.

I have my upstairs windows open too.
Although it's a lovely sunny mild day...it is very windy.

I do think late April, the whole of May and early June are glorious in New York. Also September and October. If I was rich, I'd move to England and then rent an apartment in New York to stay in every May and October.
Back in the real world ...
I so sympathize with the homesickness. I have been having a hard time too. The other day my husband said something about an annual event here and said 'we'll have to go next year' and the thought was just so depressing. Maybe we'll feel better when Spring comes.
