Default Does this place exist in the UK?

A town that is close to the mountains/large hills, maybe close enough that you can see them from town.

A town that is large enough that it has good employment prospects (office)and is good for a single thirty something person to meet likewise people. (dont want to be around alot of retirees or college crowds) I love em, but want to meet other people my age/

A town/city that attracts an outdoorsy community that likes doing things like mountain climbing, hiking, or biking.

Oh, and low crime.....Am I dreaming here?

What about somewhere in Derbyshire? Plenty of hills and biking etc, not sure how bustling the towns are (or their inhabitants) but there are some very beautiful areas.

Or somewhere in Wales? Places like Brecon, Penarth, Caerleon or even Usk - all very beautiful with plenty going on and a bustling town centre.

I think crime rates are generally lower than the national average in more rural communities but it depends how busy/populated a place you have in mind.

poole in dorset is quite close to the purbeck hills and they can be seen from poole .Great social life in bournemouth/poole for thirtysomthings and poole has quite a low crime rate and the countryside over on the purbecks is stunning .If you want mountain go to the brecons in wales but they are isolated .With what you have stated are your interests dorset would be my choice .

Kendal is very nice, have a look around the Cumbria area.
I personally wouldn't go to the west coast i.e. Barrow etc. It's a while since I have been, it was a bit of a ghost town as the shipbuilding industry has gone. They do have sellafield which brings quite a bit of the spin off business. Or how about Carlisle or the outer area's.
Derbyshire is v nice, expensive property though (as is Kendal). That is because there are many 2nd home in these areas.

Good luck

Malvern. Close enough to get a job in Worcester and commute.

Plenty of towns nearby and Malvern itself is hardly 'tiny'

Sheffield and Chesterfield are both very close to the Peak district and big enough to find a reasonable place to live and work.

Derby is a bit further away.

The east side of Manchester and surrounding towns are also within easy rreach of the pennines.

There are also plenty of places in Lancashire or Yorkshire which would fit the bill.

The Wirral. Good views of the Welsh Hills, easy access to them.Lots of outdoor pursuits to do with the water as well.
Equally good access to Liverpool by car and train...European Capital of Culture next year but a great place to live anyway and quite close to Manchester.
Good airports too.
