Day 2 arrival test question
#16
Do they pre-supply the reference number needed to fill in the Passenger Locator Form that must be filled out before departure/arrival? I presume they must, but I can't see anything to that effect on their website.
(Just asking for future reference. I have an at-home kit for tomorrow's trip)

We are flying from Atlanta via Amsterdam to Manchester, arriving early on Christmas Eve and driving to Birmingham. We are both fully vaccinated (plus booster).
I know I need a pre-departure test which I will arrange for the day before. This should be good for the Amsterdam transit as well.
All the day 2 tests I've seen say results within 48 hours and must self-isolate until a negative result is received.
We are booked out for a family Christmas Lunch on Christmas day. If the results take 48 hours, I won't be able to attend.
Are there any options with faster results?
Chris

express test referenced above has appointments in Manchester ( arndale center) and several options for Birmingham airport too. They have loads of places so take a look at their website. According to BiP the results come through about an hour later.
Also, not sure I would leave the PCR test prior to leaving to the day before your flight - you have 2 days prior to your flight to Amsterdam to get it done and I would give the labs the time to do it..,

I found a lab in Stafford that can provide same-day results if we get there before midday. Problem is, we land in Manchester at 9.55am. Not sure we can make it before noon.
ETA: The expresstest PCR test: Results delivered by 10pm the day after the test... Still screwed.

I believe the rules are 2 days prior to the flight into the UK. We leave the US on the 23rd and arrive in Amsterdam on 24th. So, our flight into the UK is on the 24th. Test must be on 22nd.

When to take your test
You must take the test in the 2 days before your service to England departs. For example, if you travel directly to England on Friday, you could take a test any time on the Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. The test result must be available for boarding.
If your journey to England is a multi-leg journey, you can take the test in the 2 days before the start of the first leg.

I did. And another quote from that same page states:
Don't you just love the government.
I believe BiP's test was a lateral flow test which is no longer acceptable. They now require a PCR test, all of which require lab testing, hence the 48 hours.
If your journey to England is a multi-leg journey, you can take the test in the 2 days before the start of the first leg. However, where possible, you should get a test within 2 days of your final departure point to England.
and to repeat myself- BiP has said that his results have been delivered within the hour....

Hi AmazingBlue,
Hope it worked out alright for you.
I am in the same boat, arriving in the UK at the end of January. I will be taking a PCR the day before I fly for the UK.
But it would also be useful to know the quickest way to get a PCR result after landing in the UK. I would be moving to the East of England (Cambridge) on arrival.
Thanks in advance for any inputs.
Cheers

Also note you only need a LFT before arrival in to the UK, not a more expensive PCR - and that may change between now and then, there’s talk of it being scrapped.

Yep, it's been scrapped (and no need for a PCR after arrival either, a LFT will do, and don't need to isolate until a negative test now either) - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-59877796
