Ummm...

Firstly, i am not into telling my children to F*** off, and secondly, they are far from god awful kids!!

One is hosting everyone at her home along with caring for a disabled 2yr old and special needs 8yr old!! And the other daughter has 4 to deal with! I have been extrmely ill over the last 18mths, in fact i nearly died from the pnuemonia on my last attempt at moving back. I couldnt have asked for better care from my girls!

Please dont say things like that about my children. Would you accept that on an open forum?

Thanks to everyone for the ideas.

My daughter trreated us to dinner out last night for our anniversary and we did have a brief discussion about it all. We have decided on your idea Cally

We will arrange a date in the next few weeks and organise who is doing what. Daughter laughed last night and said they were more asking for my organisational skills and bossiness in sorting the plan of attack rather than me cooking the whole shaboodle phewwwwwwwwww Although i am already awarded the job of chief shopper..YAY!!

Rib roast seems popular, but not decided yet. We are also keen on trying the ham in cherry coke now. Daughter thought it sounded great fun!

Aawwww mate........just throw another shrimp on the barbie

I guess that if everyone can make even just a small contribution it would take a lot of the pressure off you - you don't want to wear yourself down trying to please everyone when your own health is still recovering.

Whatever happens, I am sure you will have a lovely family time - the likes of which you would not have enjoyed if you were still in Australia.

Hi MG .. hows things your end?

My healthis really starting to improve thankfully. I am on new drugs which seem to be working. If i had been in Australia i wouldnt have got them because they refuse to prescribe them as they are expensive!! So thank god i did come back!

I am sooo looking forward to christmas this year. I used to dream of a big family christmas whilst eating prawns on a beach in Sydney. God it was boring!

Hello,

Dont know if its been mentoned but a few years ago we all put in for a couple of lobsters at christmas (although that was here in oz) but was a refreshing change. Mum made the prawn cocktails and we battered some tommies (little erm....fish) and just kept it quite simple. A seafood feast is less harsh on the gut too. A nice salad or two and happy days! Not sure what sources you have on hand but perhaps a seafood do.

Good luck with that but tis nice to cut the crap and keep it simple sometimes.

Flea - do you know what - who cares what you cook - it's going to be your most fantastic Christmas ever - back with all those you love surrounded by your children and grandchildren, being able to watch the excitement of the little ones when they rush to see if Santa's been, you'll have a fab time whatever you decide to cook.

The food is meaningless, you're back where you belong and hopefully soon, like for me, Australia will just be a very small part of your distant memory...xxxx

Sharing the menu is definitely the best option.

I've got 26 asian relatives coming over for an 'English' at xmas, so I don't stand a cat in hell's chance of them bringing a plate!

Have a great xmas flea!

And guess what??... Nanna has been voted as christmas dinner planner!!

I dont know WHY i have got the job. I am not known for my prowess as a domestic goddess

God knows what i'm going to cook....so.. i am turning to you guys for ideas.
The easiest thing would be to just dish up an enormous turkey, but oh no! that would be too easy wouldnt it? Mr Flea hates turkey and the girls dont want it either Roast beef is off as we have it nearly every week. So what do i do??
I want something exciting but not too difficult to cook... any ideas??

OH! and no one like christmas pudding either... god help me
How about a Capon (not sure if you spell it that way) a little bit like Chicken and Turkey, we use to really enjoy it and always plenty to go around.....other than that anything Delia Smith suggests around Christmas time seems to go down well with the general public....

Hi PP

Thanks for the karma.
Yes, it is a nasty thing to say, especially as THEY dont deserve it.
But it appears theres one set of rules for some members on this forum and a totally different set for others
I did what the moderators are always banging on about and reported the post (something i very rarely do) not even a reply or response from eithe Polly or Sue. I guess they think its ok

I fully accept the flack i get on here as i am a controversial poster and take it all on the chin, but i do think it is bang out of order to allow the abuse of my family who have never been on here!!

But hey ho... never mind..

Just a cautionary note: capons (unless things have changed, which is possible since I was a girl) are chemically castrated.... do you want to eat their flesh?????

I'm not sure they're necessarily any bigger than your average big chook, either (note the Ozzie lingo)
