Also providing you use the Oyster card correctly it picks the cheapest ticket or combo for your actual days travel.

For under 16s and 11s the rules for cheap\free tickets applies to Oyster as well as tickets.
You might be right... I was just looking at the website... I see they now have a price cap which I did not see when we were planning our trip.
