Personally, I don't see why anybody with relatively young kids would even bother to tell their kids anyway. Everybody's like "oh no! what do i tell my kids!" Well, if they're young enough, don't tell 'em anything. I'm sure they don't watch too many news stories anyway. So they only way they'd find out is if their parents talked about it in front of them - so duh! don't talk about it 'rents!

I think this is an over-reaction by everyone. I've even read some Mayberry prosecutor in South Carolina may try to bring him up on charges, and that US swimming is banning him from competing for 3 months. So the guy took a frackin hit off a bong! It's not like he was taking steroids or something to boost his performance, FFS! What the guy does in his personal time should not be a concern to anyone else, unless he's hurting someone else.

And I hope karma comes back to bite the 'friend' who decided to out him.

agreed. the fact that this happened in november and has only just surfaced now makes me think he was probably doing the rounds trying to sell to the highest bidder for the past few months.

Everyone knew he was in town. He went to a football game with 80k people in attendance and was introduced. He was photographed in a local restaurant. He was sporting around a girl all over the place. Nothing was private about his visit to Columbia. I live here, and saw him on the local news, at the game, etc. He was definitely in the public eye. I guess he was a little naieve. But there again, he already has had a DUI - so he's been there and done that.

I don't care if he smokes weed - this is a big university town - it's not exactly unheard of! The big money he was getting must not be of much importance to him. That's okay, easy come, easy go.

So by this definition, when he screwed that girl in the privacy of this room there, he would have been doing it in public, not private.

Apparently, according to reports at the time, he had a friend who was in uni here. She invited him to town. It was a spur of the moment trip, to a city where he really knew no one. He was enjoying the celebrity. He was not in uni here, and not part of the "party scene." How could he possibly know who he was partying with - hell, it could have been a sting for all he knew. He was gullible. When you have signed big lucrative contacts you need to be a little street smart. He wasn't with his "friends," he was with strangers, who apparently felt no student kinship with him. He wasn't "one of them."

I feel sorry for him! But, I know if I signed a million dollar contract, I'd be watching my p's and q's.
