British ID Number?
Could anyone tell me if asked for a "National Identification Number" on the DS156 online form - What would this be? National Insurance number?

Write "NONE".

In the context of the DS156 visa application, the UK National Insurance number would be acceptable, or at least not a deal breaker, I would think.
