Must eats/drinks in Chicago
I've got a few evening meals I need to consume in Chicago next week, preferably within walking distance of the El, or maybe reachable by El if it's worth travelling for. I'm missing a good Indian meal and English pint of real ale. What do you suggest? I might see if that Wiener place on TV (truTV?) actually exists .
Cheers.

The Indian area is on Devon (pronounced De Vahn here), but that is well up on the north side.

I have no idea if it's near the El, but look for "Reza's Restaurant". Delicious Persian food!!! Yummmmm.

Elephant & Castle - Several of them in the Downtown area.
Eats:
Giordanos or Ginos East for Pizza.
Billy Goat Tavern on the corner of Michigan and Hubbard (Chicago Institutuion).
Must Do:
Signature Lounge on 96th Floor of John Hancock Center. Free of Charge to get in, drinks cost a bit more, though. Well worth it for the view.
Just a few ideas for starters.

Excellent, thanks for the suggestions. I was supposed to say the Loop, not the El as a system, sorry! Club Quarters on Adams/Clark.

The Wiener Cirlce is real and is on N Clark Street between W Diversey and W Wrightwood Aves. It becomes somewhat of a "unique experience" once the sun goes down and the beers have been flowing!
Prepare for the abuse!
(oh and it's probably a 10-15 minute walk from Diversey Brown/Purple line... cough up and get a cab!)

Ditka's
100 E Chestnut
They do a 14oz filet mignon, on the bone. Very awesome.

+1 to the Hopleaf for all your pint-drinking needs. You could also hit up Owen & Engine if you fancy a Brit themed pub that is heavy on quality, light on theme (this would be a cab from downtown).
If you have a booze itch that needs scratching, head to Sable Kitchen and Bar, which is in River North (just north of the loop). Amazing cocktails and their whisk(e)y collection really is something; the food is also delicious.
W Randolph around Halsted in the West Loop is where the cool and schmancy food places are to be found. I'd say the Publican would be the go-to for a meat eater.

Ditkas X2. Plus you can add a tipsy stroll down Michigan Ave at night, a very nice walk
Also, the Goose Island brewery is Chicago based, so hopefully the kegs'll be fresh, their Honkers' Ale is the best American made Bitter I've found so far.
If you have the time the Field museum is a wonderful place. And you can stand out over the 'world' on the glass shelf in the Sears Tower (or whatever they call it nowadays).

Re: Must eats/drinks in Chicago
I think a few of these are a bit of a trek away - I'm not averse to a bit of a walk or ride on a train, but not if it involves walking, riding, and more walking!
Thanks, I think I'll narrow it down to a few choices to try at least a few suggestions.
Come to think of it, this - along with British shops etc - ought to be in the Wiki if it's not already. I'll have a look later and start a page if not.

Ginos East is amazing pizza. Yes you wait a ridiculously long time for it but it is worth it. We did managed to get pulled out of line and bypassed about 50 people when we went and I have no idea why but I wasn't complaining.
Also take a Sharpie and sign a wall/table/chair. It is the best pizza me and my OH have had. Of course now we are in SC we won't get it again for a while.

Ditka's is fine, but a bit of a tourist trap. I recommend the Chicago Chop House if you want a steakhouse. Smith and Wollensky is good too.
Here's a good little restaurant in a fantastic location:

Chicago's a big city, it's a bit hard to give recommendations without more information from the OP.
