happy to help Miss B!

Fate has been kind to me.....the rota has had me and the vampire on opposing shifts I know it won't last...but hey, I'm all for enabling the other team members to share the "experience" of working a whole shift with him....seen as they somehow have managed to avoid being partnered with him (as I subtly pointed out to my clinical lead)

Only one more week to go then off for 12 days....woop woop!
got my daughters graduation to attend, and the day after is a "big" birthday (so I'm told)....

how old am I?

21 and a few months

....how many?

Hope your enjoying all that sussex sunshine on the beach......god I miss the south coast!

Thanks me dear! Yes I remember that great post you put up last year when you mentioned all about not stressing anymore about where you felt you should be!

I am enjoying being back and its all so very relaxed atm. Usually when I came home for holidays it was a mad rush to fit everyone in but now I just catch up with people as and when. I used to always have a couple of big nights out with the girls but since I've been back I've tended to shun that in favour of long lunches.

I've spent most of my weekends in since being back, using the excuse of not working atm so watching the pennies but really that is just an excuse lol! I love pottering around my flat, curling up on the sofa with a cup of cocoa or glass of red to watch a movie before crawling into my nice cosy bed by about 10pm - I'm such a nana these days ha ha ha!

All joking aside though, I really do take pleasure in the little things, simple stuff makes my day. A bunch of perfect cream roses from Marks & Sparks, a walk through the woods with my Mum and the pooch, singing along to an old song in the car with my sister, sitting at the table in the window with a cuppa listening to the radio and walking along the seafront into town - the glorious sunshine we are having right now makes that the highlight of my day!

Hope all is going well with you and your studies, you must be on holidays by now I would think? Thanks for stopping by to say hello!

Woo hoo - that's awesome, gives you a break from him. It does make me wonder sometimes why some people have to be so unpleasant to work with. You don't have to be the life and soul at work but common courtesy does go a long way to making the workplace a bit easier to bear!

Congrats on your daughter's graduation - what degree did she do? Good excuse to buy a new dress too, not to mention the up and coming (big) birthday!

Yes I have to say its just amazing weather atm, I walked into town yesterday in just flip flops, a t-shirt and cotton skirt and it was baking hot! When I got into town I was amazed to find a great big pirate ship right in the middle of town ha ha! We have Annual Pirates Day coming up in 2 weeks time and it was donated to the town by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers lol!

Am I going to Pirates Day? Need you ask??!!! I already have a stripy top, red neckerchief and some ragged pants, I just need to get my hat and sword next week from the local toy shop! Arrrrrrrrr me hearties, Capt Betty Sparrow, terror of the high seas of ye olde Hastings ha ha ha!!!!

Off for a pub lunch this afternoon, my local has a band playing and, for the first time in weeks, my BFF has a Sunday off work - hurrah!

Arrrgh, you will enjoy the Pirates Festival. In May I went by boat to the Brixham one and was surrounded by hundreds of "pirates" in the town. Lots of gunfire and sword fighting. Some good pirate music from Tom Mason and the Blue Buccaneers, but they put tears to my eyes when playing "Bound for South Australia." Well, I lived in SA for two thirds of my life . . .

Ok well back 7 weeks today and I'm feeling rather chatty this evening so let me begin lol!!!

I went for an interview with a specialist agency last week who place medics on contracts overseas (fly in, fly out) in remote locations and got accepted by them! Had to do a skills and written test but it all went well so I am now on their books. Will have to wait and see what comes up but seeing as it was my first interview I feel pretty chuffed! Have another interview on Monday for bank staff with the NHS so am hoping that goes well and am just waiting to hear back from a private ambulance company who want to interview me as well - hurrah! I'd like to be back at work by September really so fingers crossed it will happen!

Anyways story time - of course! As I mentioned before I've started going to the gym again, circuit training and spin (bike) classes and I am really enjoying it. It was hard going at first but I'm getting better and have made some new friends, we are all a bit tubby so its quite nice supporting each other in our quest to get thinner and fitter!

Well today I had the biggest laugh in ages!!!! The old spin studio was just a normal gym room with a few tired old bikes and an instructor with a CD player. They have just opened up a new studio last week and its very impressive, especially for a small town sports centre. Its got lasers, a proper sound system, 20 brand new bikes and - the best bit - a massive interactive screen so you feel like you are cycling through the alps, small villages and in woodland - amazing!!!!

So today I'm all ready to go and these 3 women turn up for the class who haven't been for a while and are nervous about using the new room - their concern? The lasers. Yep thats right, the lasers that they have never seen and know nothing about - sigh! One says well apparently it can damage your eyes, the other one says well what if you are epileptic?!! By now I am staring at the ground struggling not to laugh as these 3 women are whining and moaning about something that have not seen OR experienced OR, quite frankly, know nothing about ha ha ha!!!!! As soon as the instructor arrives they pounce on her, all jabbering at once about the 'dangerous' lasers and how they do not want them on under any circumstances - the poor instructor looked completely bemused!! She tells them that maybe they should just try it as they are perfectly safe and they all start complaining and moaning saying they are not sure if they should take the class - by now I am struggling to contain my mirth! We start the class and I pop on my sunglasses (just for fun) the instructor comes up to me with a wry smile and says what are you doing?! I tell her I don't want to go blind and then we both crack up laughing, I take the sunglasses off as its clearly a joke but the 3 women are still complaining and carry on until the instructor begs them to be quiet! I still can't get used to the moaning here, I have to just carry on laughing it off else it would drive me potty!!!

Anyways I had a fab day yesterday. My parents are back now so they took me and my sister over to Sissinghurst Castle for the day in their camper van and our new pooch came too, we had a lovely picnic and the sunshine was glorious to say the least. We sat out under the awning, chomping away on our lunch watching the lambs running around in the fields then we walked around the gardens before collapsing under a shady tree to lie on the grass and eat fab home made icecream! Got back to my parents old country cottage, had a few glasses of wine, watched a movie and then I stayed the night in my old room lol! Woke up this morning around 6 am to the birds singing and sat out in the garden in the summer house drinking tea in my pj's with Mum just chatting - bliss! Seeing as my parents ping ponged to Oz twice they both completely understand what I'm going/went through. I've actually started to open up to Mum a bit more about how miserable I was out there and she said she went through exactly the same thing. We have always been close but this whole experience has brought us even closer together, she was in my shoes 30 years ago though I dare say without modern technology and two small children it was far worse for her than it was for me and I have a whole new respect for her.

My best friend is coming down to stay weekend after next and I can't wait, we are on the phone every day for hours so God only knows what we will be like once we have been on the wine lol!

I'm so happy right now and I feel so relaxed, its like the last few years were just a horrible nightmare and then, suddenly, I just woke up and life was back to normal, everything was in its place and how it should be. I've settled back in just fine and I barely think of Australia at all now. Who knows if it will continue and who cares, I'm not worrying about things that may never happen!! Right now I'm more at peace then I have been in years and its fantastic to be free of all that constant anxiety, depression and sheer loneliness, I'm so very grateful to be where I am right now, just living in the moment!
