It's used for energy generation if done smartly, just heats up tanks of water creating steam just like any other power station...if it's done on the cheap and not thought out, then it's just a waste.

I sometimes run leaded gasoline in my bike & find a Prius on the freeway to cruise along in front of for a few miles.... gives me warm fuzzies
