Yeah I know.. 1963? For some folks around here, that's like saying "I remember where I was when I read that Queen Victoria had died." Or, "The Jurassic? Sure, I remember that. Now, the Cretaceous, that WAS before my time."

That was the year after we arrived in Australia, not that I remember but my parents used to tell me about this dreadful winter in '63.

We have been here 5 years leaving next summer.

You're right, it's not a bad place but beyond Halifax metro there is not much. We have done all the tourist stuff and it's too far to Ontario or the US for a weekend break.

I am looking forward to some diversity and lots of holidays

Yes, I can't wait to be back in Europe and hop to different places ... yes, hols have been sadly lacking with time issues and back and forth to the UK. We are retiring , but if I were working, I would be very happy about extra time off !!!

Where do you think you will end up ??

Going back to Berkshire. Wanted to try somewhere new but I think realistically while we still have kids it will be good for them to go back to friends and things they know. We can always move on in a few years.

How about you?

you are living my dream! I hope we will be as fortunate as you and find our listed dream home!

I can live with a little cold if the summer's are as hot and humid as the South.
Hot and humid is fine when you are 20 but not so much after 50

LOL, some have said I am living in a dream world Thanks very much, we are definitely living our dream thats for sure. Living in a listed house can be a pain sometimes but overall well worth the minor inconveniences. There is something really quite magical about living in a house with more than 400 years of history.
Our kids are only 11 and they hated hot and humid but havent said a word about it now we are heading into the winter.
