where to form here...

That's ok, I was not thinking you did. I just feel one needs to take some action because otherwise the potential babysitters will always stay complete strangers if you see what I mean. I agree that here you don't have your normal backup of family and old friends so you may need to find other ways. We don't have a maid either but in our case, our youngest went to nursery and she was totally crazy about her teacher. We felt we could trust her and she and one or two other ladies that work at the nursery became our regular babysitters. Our daugther is no longer at nusery now, but the same ladies keep on babysitting our kids. So yes, they started out as strangers but are now part of a very reliable back up system that enables us to go out and have some 'adult only' time.
It was great to get out as a couple last month, though. It is marvellous to be able to sit in a restaurant without having to say, "EAT YOUR TEA!" or, "STOP THAT NOW!" or, "GET OFF THE FLOOR!" and get stared at by other diners.
The WIFE is much better behaved now, though.

We will hopefully get there. The little one goes to a playgroup and apparently some of the ladies who run it offer a babysitting service, so that might be an option.

You need at least two other females to accompany you before you even consider going to the toilet...even at home!!

Isn't the CC being closed soon to make way for a block of flats?

Princess Haya wants it for a riding school. So yes it will be going but in about two years time. They have been given land to build a new one though. Wait and see. Shame that as Sheik Maktoum's brother the one who died a couple of years back used to be a regular visitor and was proud of the club, his father also who gave the land in the first place.

They aren't going to start building the riding school for two years? How un-Dubai!!
I thought they'd have already been selling 'luxury apartments and villas surrounding a landscaped lake and stables, complete with golf course, walkways and mall'
Princess Haya bint Hussain Al Maktoum Dubai Riding School City, reserve your place now.

just a thought- if you guys are working 12 hour days @ 6 days/week- and the traffic is a pain....is there anything left in the tank on your day off?- when do you get to see the kids?...so the money/ package has to be damn good.
Need to do homework on a possible move...can anyone tell me how any of the following: Bahrain/ Abu Dhabi/ Qatar, rates with expats, compared to Dubai? Dubai seems to be the 1st choice for expats?
