Re: What's it like to live in Dubai?
I am not under the impression that Dubai is all open spaces, green parks and no traffic, don't worry! Clearly some people view it in a more positive light than others. I live in Moscow and some people love it here - whereas sometimes it drives me so crazy I can't stand the place!
But realistically though - are there any parks at all where you could walk a dog for example? From my impression - I didn't think there would be any such thing.
Thanks everybody for your feedback. Keep it coming!!

There's quiet a lot of parks....but not sure if you can take your dog in...wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't to be honest...

Yes that was what I thought. I don't have a dog so it is not a big issue but I really want to get one. It sounds like I won't if I move to Dubai....
I can't imgaine the 45 degree weather would be great for them either - although I am from Australia so am used to +40 degree weather in summer. Now I have -20 degrees in winter. I don't know what is worse to be honest....

oh -20 is worse trust me...it's around +20 now here, and after having been here for a few years, it feels like it's freezing...getting sick of wearing boots, socks and long sleeves...while in Europe +20 is like a not too bad summersday...lol

As for a dog - I would think long and hard. You'll be living in a travel hub where you can get cheap flights for long weekends, go camping into desert if that's your thing, and so on. Pets, especially dogs, can be very tying here unless you have very nice neighbours (we don't), or a maid (we don't).
Try booking in Habtoor Grand hotel - you'll think you're still in Moscow.

think it's a really good idea to visit and get a feel for the place...some people love it here, but it's not for everyone. I have been here for 2 years and think it's fab...agree with advice others have given...
if you want any tips on what to do in your 4 days here, let us know...

Re: What's it like to live in Dubai?
Hi
I've recently been offered an architectural position (project leader) in Abu Dhabi, and am doing some research on the city, living costs, schools for my kids, neighbourhoods to live in, etc.
I've been offered 40.000/month and will be the sole provider as my wife and children will only be moving in a couple of months time.
Can you please give me some info on the issue.
Thanks in advance,
Alex
