Is it that big of a deal that they are arriving in UAE?

I understand that with spinneys, carrefor & M&S there's already a great selection...

Does harveynics have a food floor as well?

Do I bother bringing any of delia's books or can I access online?

(yes, FOOD & cooking is a big thing for me...)

Depending on what you are looking for Spinney's is suitable for most of your needs. If you're in Dubai it wouldn't hurt to look in the organic store (especially for coffee and tea - everything is overpriced!) and I do recall getting excellent meat from Park and Shop (although this may have changed as it's been a while since I shopped there)

I find Carrefour to be budget orientated and only good for branded produce (their own stuff is pants).

I imagine you can probably download every cookbook by Delia over bittorrent if so inclined!

I can see it now in 7DAYS - titled "Traffic and Bacon woes" from disgruntled expat stuck in on Emirates road typing from his Blackberry.

there are two, one in meadows village and one in town centre. i think they will probably open in one one of the new shopping centres dotted around the never-traffic-congested ranches too.

I have no driver and my manservant can't drive... He does walk to the co-op with a shopping list, which is of limited use as he can't read English. With sufficient beatings he manages to get things half-right.
