Default visa run: taxi, bus, or rent-a-car?

hi.

I'm on a visit visa and have already done a 500dhs 30 day extension, so it looks like I'm in for my first run... what is the easiest way to get this done for the man without his own car?

Bus. I understand there are daily buses to Hatta and Muscat, but I don't think the Hatta bus would take me into Oman, and even if I do go to Muscat, I've read elsewhere that I may not be able to get the proper paperwork done...

Renting. Is the temp drivers ID really necessary to rent a car? Seems like you could be able to get around it like so many other things.

Taxi. Anyone ever tried this before? I can imagine searching for hours for a driver willing to take me to Oman and back. If anyone as experience and/or a price for it, much appreciated.

Thanks!

would guess renting a car would be the easiest way. just make sure that Oman insurance is included. You should be able to hire on your UK licence.

I did my first 'Hatta' run to Oman a couple of weeks ago and, like you, have no car....

I used a guy who will pick you up at 8, have you in Oman by 9.30 and less than 1 hour later - allowing for a half decent coffee in immigration - be winging you back to Dubai before lunch....he guides you through the whole process...window 1,window 3...etc.

All in 700dhs....a bargain in my book!

PM me if you want his number...
