Was I overseas when this was originally announced as it's news to me. Does anybody know when the rule will be applied. I'm guessing January2012...

as far as I am aware, it's already in place. Those on a 3 years visa will continue as normal, renewals will only be for 2 years. new visas are only 2 years.

The law changed from 1st January 2011.

i just renewed my visa (back in July) and it was for a further 3 yrs...so i suspect this new regulation will probably come in force next yr.

january 2011 new rules came in then. 2 years for private, 3 years still for government employees etc. new rules came into place regarding transferring visas, ie changing jobs, now you have to cancel and then apply again, so transferring does not exist, no objection letters not always needed etc for certain categories and for certain salaries etc.

if you work in a freezone, or government, semi government etc then still 3 years apply.

New DHCC visa last week and got three years. Bonus is I don't have AIDS
