Default Transport Allowance -KSA

Interested to hear what is an acceptable/average transport allowance for Dhahran and Al Khobar area.
$1080 a month has been discussed with me as part of a package.
Any pointers appreciated.

You are probably looking for a response from someone in that area with local experience of travel costs. However in terms of general information I have seen employers offer a percentage of salary in the form of a travel allowance. Most recently I read that 10% is a useful rule of thumb.

Hi i live in Khobar.
I have my own car but petrol as you know is very cheap in fact it costs more for a small bottle of water than a liter of petrol
i use about 150 riyals at the very max on petrol a month here.

Now car rental again it depends on what type of car you want, but your company should be able to arrange a better deal for you.

It is part of the labour law on you % on travel allowences etc etc

Hmm, guess I'm being hard done by then at effective 7% (and that lowers with wage increases as there's no percentage figure for transport on our contracts.)

But what you think you lose under one part of a package vis-à-vis others you might get more under another. I had to keep that thought in mind during recent negotiations. I am grateful to a poster would brought that point to my thinking a little while ago.
