Default Touareg - a few questions

I am looking at buying a second hand Touareg privately and would like to check on a few points.
What are the servicing costs like and how often ?
Are Touareg expensive to run ? I read on Drive Arabia that the breaks need an overhaul every 15,000kms and it is very expensive.
Does it makes much difference whether you buy a 2004 0r 2005 or 2006. Was there any major changes I should be taking into consideration ?

Any info on what to check for will be much appreciated!

Nice car... do check the AC, I know that the AC in the Q7 (ok an Audi, but probably the same car underneath) is hopeless.

if you are getting an older one who cares about VW servicing costs... give the Bosch service centre a call - I went there today and thought they were very good (haven't got the car back yet though )

Hi - I have a 2006 model V6 and (touch wood) had no problems at all, air con is totally fine, it does swallow petrol average 500km for full tank - 115dhs to fill up, had breaks done once at 40,000km and same with tyres at 40,000km....there was a global recall on few older models re: handbrake sensor and dodgy Al Nabooda tried to charge us for it...average service with them is 2000dhs from memory...if you can, get the V8 for bit more clout!

what you'll probs find with the japanese is the service interval is only 5000km rather than 15000km of the VW... so the cost even's it self out and you dont have the inconvenience of having the car in the garage every couple of months.

I was looking for a touareg for my wife for the last months. There's a lot of US imports in town and a lot of general sh1te around.
