According to this article, car windows must not be more than 30% darker than a clear plane of glass.
I was told this limit only applied to expats, or is it everyone???

I have 3M 30% and that's fine...you can still see clearly even at night and in parkinggarages...anything more would cause a problem I reckon....and I hate the dark ones, cause you cannot see if they spot you...but they think you can cause they can still see you...

you have to get a special permit for anything over 30%...not sure what the requirements are...

well just about every sunny/civic and corolla on the road seems to have had a call into satwa to get 80%+ tints done. and somehow I don't think they are driven by locals!
these cars have to be tested every year to register. why don't the plod just slap a fine on them at that point?

I got mine done at a place across the carpark from Lamcy Mall...5 years warranty, 950 dhs...I think the 5 years warranty comes with a better quality of foil...

Not all coatings are the same, tho - VKool is the premium brand because it has proprietary technology & is thermally more efficient (if your objective in tinting your windows is to save on a/c costs & keep your car cool).... (no, i don't have shares in the company....)

The 30% rule supposedly applies to all cars, not just those of expats.
At the government building down in Bastakiya, there is - or was - a sign outside the vehicle security gate saying that vehicles with a tint above 30% are not permitted to enter.
