Default Thais in Riyadh

Hello Folks

Well, after 7 years in Thailand and 7 years in Kuwait, myself and Mrs. Desertexile are moving to Riyadh. A little apprehensive making the move as wifey had made some good friends in Kuwait, which I think is essential in the Dunes, and its a case of starting over.

Kuwait has a lot of Thais and a cracking embassy, anyone know what the the situation is in Riyadh regards Thai social scene / Thai restaurants and embassy functions? Even better is anyone married to a Thai and has a wife or husband that would be willing to answer some of Mrs DE's questions?

Cheers

DE

Didn't KSA and Thailand have a major diplomatic falling-out several years ago? As a result you will find virtually no Thais working in the Magic Kingdom except possibly in the food/beverage and construction sectors. Plenty of Filipinos though.

I appreciate you are Riyadh bound, however, there is an active Thai community in Jeddah, so I would expect the same up in the big 'R'.

Many, of course, are from the south of Thailand.
