He's only pulling your leg a bit mate , take it easy captain .
Here you go . The benefits seem good but the salary is on the low side , ask them for another 7000 AED .
The benefits are slightly disproportionate to the salary so in my opinion you might be able to negotiate a better basic .

It's a perfectly reasonable thing to ask.
"What do you think of your job offer?"
That's an easy way to see whether it's light or amazing or on the button.
Everybody compares between here and home, the norm on here is to demand an increase of 245,698% on the EU salary to work here....so there are comparisons to be made.
All in all, it wasn't unfair and you can draw comparisons. Maybe the way I did it wasn't the best, but that's kind of tough now.

Oh, and by the way...I think it's a bit light, ask for more. 15yrs experience deserves a bit more.
Can't hurt to ask.

* housing (this really is something that you should get the company to do - as you dont want to pay a whole year in advance)
* utilities (again, if directly debited to the company much easier for you)
* schooling
* return flight home once per year for you & all your dependents
* medical insurance valid in the country you live & work (not always the same for the Saudi-Bahrain commuters!) for you & all your dependents
car rental or transport allowance is a nice to have but not an essential
25-30 paid days of vacation time; plus public holidays off & paid for (or compensated by time in lieu or money)
end of year service bonus should be a minimum of one month
performance bonus is negotiable
then the crux: your base salary. A good rule of thumb is to take your Home country salary before tax and ask for that as a minimum.
So for example, in the UK I would pay 40% tax. I get the same gross salary here, but obviously don't pay tax, so my net income has that extra 40% - which is good enough for me!

But hey, AOK I think you need to ask for more on the basic definitely.
