Question salaries in qatar, please help

hello all, i am new to this forum, just joined actually,it looks realy useful

I am trying to get some info about salaries in Doha so i can negotiate my package.

I am a senior transportation project manager in Australia, 16 years experience with 2 master degrees(if it means anything at all when it comes to salary?), married with one child,i believe i will be soon offered a job in a govornment company in qatar . I understand that they will not be providing accomodation but rather include it in the package. they will provide medical insurance, tickets to home destination once a year, and school fees.

how much do think i should have in mined when i talk to them about my salary( including accomodation allowance), any advice?

thank you all for your help .

Well - here are some typical costs to help you on the final figure. These figures are based on good quality not top quality - ie would meet and satisy the expectations of a typical westerner. Prices per month in riyals

Villa - 14,000 all in
Saloon car (eg honda accord) 3000 all in for rental
Small car (suzuki swift or similar) 2000 all in for rental
Weekly shop - 1000

So - basics covered for 20,000 with car for wife and one for you.

Typical going out costs

Friday buffet price - 200 to 300 per adult (300 includes alcohol) once or twice a month

Pint - 28 to 35 average

Alcohol licence - 1000 refundable - 140 riyal for crate (24 cans) beer

Take no less that 12,000 tax free Australian Dollars a month, ask for 15,000 aus $ a month.

Salaries vary from one government agency to another. If you can give me an idea of the proposed title and grade I should be able to help.
