Qatar Gas
Hi there,
QatarGas offered me a good package for western expat. Tell me please, if anyone is aware of issues or problems this company caused to theit emplyees. Do they really pay good bonuses at the end of each year as they say? What about Al-Khor compound? Is it livable?
many thanks.

Re: Qatar Gas
Depends what you call livable. Most people I know that work for QatarGas or RasGas live in Doha and commute up to Ras Laffan. Companies no longer wish to do this due to the high rental costs in Doha.
Al Khor was basically a small fishing village of private residencies with some infrastructure. There's a small corniche and fish market. Q-Post office, Q-Tel and Qatar Airways office. It has been developed over the last few years since the gas field work began. New compounds are half finished all over the place. A number of the labour camps are situated around Al Khor.
There's a few small supermarkets, some local restuarants (read cafe style turkish or indian places with formica countertops) and shops for basic needs. Car maintanance, mobile phones etc etc.
It's maybe 40km from Doha and you will need to drive down here for everything but the basics. It's not somewhere you choose to live unless you are being paid hardship level salaries.
