Default Is the "new road" to Dibba any quicker?

Does anyone know if going to Dibba via the "new route" is noticeably quicker than going the old way (via Masafi)?

The new route is certainly a faster road for most of its length, but it looks like you have to travel a longer distance as well. We were going to try and time it last time we came back from Dibba (went the old way, came back the new way) but we got caught in a sandstorm and had to slow right down.

If you drive like an idiot it is quicker.

If you drive like an ordinary person I don't think it is

If it's anything like the Dubai-Abu Dhabi road you can shaft along in the slow lane at 180kph+ where the speed cameras can't get you!

It's too twisty to keep up regular speeds of 180kph

But it is quicker

It's quicker. The old route is littered with speed bumps, stacks of lorries, small towns to slow down through etc etc etc
