New Job in Al Khobar
Hi Everyone, I am new on here but feel like I know some of you already as I have been reading many posts in an attempt to find some answers. Some real funny posts I may add
I have been offered a new Job in Al Kobar and have a choice of living in Saudi or Bahrain. We are a couple with two young children
Can you please help with the following?
Considering living in Bahrain but unsure about the costs and travel time / additional daily costs to get to work. Any views?
Any views on the troubles in Bahrain? Best area to live? Cost of decent accommodation?
Is it easy to travel by car between Bahrain and Saudi? Do you just show your passport or is there a queue every day at border? What is the journey time? Traffic?
Anyone on here who does this daily trip?
Is living in Bahrain worth the pain? Freedom and all that!
Any help would be greatly appreciated  Jay

Re: New Job in Al Khobar
someone just posted on here on best accomm in bahrain. DO a search for that.
It must be worth it, about a third of the teachers where I work do it every day and don't blink an eyelid. But the hours you are working will make a big difference. If you start at 7am and finish at 4pm it won't be a problem. Starting or finishing later will lengthen your day considerably with travel queues.
Cost is relatively small I hear although I don't do the trip so I don't know the details.

forgot to add that to do this you need a multi-entry visa which you might not be able to apply for until you've been in the country 90 days depending on your employer. You need to renew that every 6 months. While you renew it (less than a week) you will be unable to travel so will have to stay in Saudi. And it's a few hundred riyals for the visa.
