In these times of recession?? I think it would be terribly selfish of any woman to expect that ............ might even scare the groom away !! If I was the groom, I'd run like hell if that was a stipulation for a useless ring

had a former colleague of mine simply buy a diamond and put it in the box. he wasn't confident of knowing what was the best ring to have it made into, so he said "here's a rock, how do you want it set?"

not exactly 'romantic' but a damn site more practical than having her pull faces at you 'cos it's not quite right...
