we are waiting for the aldar legal PRO to review the documents ( all in arabic) but if anyone has any experience in this kind of 'situation' - be most grateful for your advise. does being banned by dubai immigration carry weight in abu dhabi ? we are hoping aldar can overturn the ban but will know for definite sun/mon...

looks like our middle east experience may be a shortlived one
There is an avenue where the co can pay a "ban lifting fee" - not sure what the exact circumstances are where this can happen. There are also differences in regulations between AD & Dubai....

Best to trust the PRO & work with him to try & find a solution...

Some info is avail on Gulf News website:

Best of luck to you both!!!

unfortunatly in this sort of industry you are not allowed to 'job hop' and that is why there is this rule etc, especially if you havent even done your probation period, but there are ways of getting around it, wait for aldar pro to see if they can, even when you are leaving the uae to live in the uk with the same company (so no changing companies just countries) immigration stick at least a 6 month ban on you, and this is for "professional in the exempted catagory".

Sorry to hear this foxes, Aldar have big clout here, I am sure they will do their best to sort this situation out, there is something about paying 5000 and get the ban lifted, as SYB said the PRO will know best

Good luck and let us know how u get on

I agree, the rules for Dubai and Abu Dhabi are different and semi government organisations have different rules - there are very few laws that run at UAE/Federal level and therefore there can be lots of speculation. Implementation of the laws are very much administered by the authorities in Dubai and Abu Dhabi with their specific needs in mind and especially if they involve freezones. Although it must be worrying, Aldar is a big organisation and have probably dealt with this type of thing before. Good luck and keep in touch with the PRO who will no doubt be very experienced in these matters.

Let's hope to see you both in Abu Dhabi - good luck and try to be positive!

Hi all - thanks for all your comments - as you can expect, we are on the edge so to speak and planning life back in the uk as a last resort. Ultimately whatever happens, we have had the experience of working out of the uk - which was the reason for the move in the first place.

However, although we are doing our level best to keep our spirits up, it is dissappointing that one person in the HR dept has been the cause of our predicament -she had indicated there would be no issues with the noc untill the very last minute. But we are both hoping Aldar will come through for us. i will let you know whatever happens, sunday/monday should be d-day !!

thanks once again. foxes

but the problem lies if the old company wont 'release and give an NOL' etc, but Aldar do have a lot of clout, so if they cant do it nobody can.

hi - everyone's advice has been very useful - all decisions made have been on our own necks - we have nothing but gratitude for everyone's input. I think what the issue has come down to is that you have to expect the unexpected in this part of the land - thinking things work the 'british' way is a one ticket to gloom and doom !!

yep you unfortunately learned the hard way, things definately are done a 'different' way in this part of the world but dont give up hope, we have all been in situations where by you think that you will not come out the other end, but if there is a will there is a way in most cases, but Aldar is a BIG company here in abu dhabi, so as i said "A will fix it" hopefully if not perhaps then instead of thinking of going back to the UK, look closer a field such as Doha/Muscat or if in engineering etc Aus/NZ etc.

Hi - yes a harsh learning curve indeed - ...perhaps the most frustating thing is that we have no control of anything ourselves...but are hopes are pinned on Aldar & we are prepared for the worst nevertheless - thanks for advice

You do Foxes and her partner wrong if you presume they relied exclusively on a few well intended lines of advice.
