Hi folks
So we are moving out to Doha from Scotland in a few weeks, paperwork is currently being sorted out at the moment!
We are basically looking for some advice with regards to accommodation & the best areas to rent in. My husband's job is at the tv roundabout area, so any advice on where to look would be great! We have looked online at The Pearl but unsure how far away this might be to the tv studios.
I am travelling out with him but will obviously need to come out on a tourist visa, until he can sponsor me! Any advice on what we can do to make the process as quick as possible would be grateful!

Him sponsoring you depends on how quickly his company sort out his sponsorship. It will happen as and when it happens.

Anyway having to do a visa run every 1 - 2 months is a good thing :-)

Nowhere in Doha is very far away from TV roundabout, but traffic can be horrendous. Its best to get here and have a look around.

No point in looking until you get here, as the websites are out of date generally and quality varies dramatically.

You can look in Al Sadd, Markhiya, West Bay, University area.

Forget the Pearl its shite and 12k will get you a Rabbit hutch if you are lucky. As others have said take a month in a serviced apartment or hotel and look when you get here as its far easier. Regarding your husband sponsoring you he will need 6 months bank statements before he can so don't expect anything too soon. (Of course this can change for various reasons)

Nothing is ever set and there are always exceptions!!! My husband got his RP within 3 weeks of arrival - without having to supply any bank statements...... we had ours 3 weeks after that (this year, mid-February arrival - for those who are thinking about rule changes etc....) Mind you, don't know if having already held an iquama in the Magic Kingdom played a part in the shorter time!
