Just moved to Kuwait and like you am a biker and am thinking about getting a bike. Having seen what the drivings like here, IF I get one it will be purely for play. There is NO WAY I shall be commuting out there!

I have lived in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi for over 7 years and have had bikes ranging from Ducati 900SS to a Harley. There is nothing wrong with owing and riding a bike in the Middle East. Like every where else you just have to be careful. However I am not so sure about the 125cc issue. You will need a bigger bike than that in order to survive on UAE roads.

You also mentioned something about having a provisional license. My advice would be to get a full UK driving license and get it converted to a UAE license without a test. Believe me you don't want to go for a test in Abu Dhabi. They have a good system but they like to give people the run around.
