Hi there,
Just wondering if anyone has any idea how easy it would be to get a job in journalism in Dubai?
I've had a look at Time Out Dubai, but they didn't have a jobs section online.
My girlfriend and I are thinking of moving out there later this year, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Well there dont seem to be any journalism entries on my jobs website, so the best I can advise you to do is check out Jobs in the United Arab Emirates.

Wish you all the best.

your chances for time out are pretty non-existent but its publishing company, ITP, has loads of opps. try itp.com or they advertise on the guardian newspaer media section...
motivate are the other big publishing company and the rest are mainly cowboys

Standards are low and pay is crap, but it's not impossible to find a job. There are also quite a lot of opportunities in PR, though it's getting increasingly hard (read: impossible) to get an "overseas hire" - eg proper employment package with holidays, accommodation, etc. Most jobs now are "local" hire, even if you come from overseas.
You could come here and set up as a freelancer - you can do this officially via Dubai Media City ($$$) or you can do the two month visa-hop. The problem here though that if you don't have a proper employment visa, you can't get rent, internet account, electricity - any of the things you need. So unless you were going to share a villa with someone already working here, you couldn't do it.
As for sending your CV to Dubai Media City: you'll be more likely to get a response by burning it, sending it up the chimney, and waiting for Father Christmas to reply. Try http://www.clarendonparker.com as a good site that does get jobs for people overseas.
