In my opinion
Louis Roederer NV is about the best (affordable) NV you can get, Deutz runs it a close second followed by Perrier Jouet.The best cheap vintage I've tried is Deutz 1996.
If you can't splash out on French stuff. Pelorus (from Cloudy Bay in NZ) is better than quite a few vintages champagners I've tried.
Vain AND pretentious. I am such a catch
