No, actually they do, but you seem to be of the opinion that there are more important and pressing issues in this world than to worry about morality and sexual behavior, even though the latter has a direct impact on children's right (which is quite so often overlooked), the right to know, for example, who the biological fathers are. Unfortunately such rights nowadays, do not seem to be important enough and thats why they dont exist in the law.
A single lady can wake up one morning, decides that having a child round the house would be a good idea, goes on an evening out , checks the blokes in the club out and picks up the guy with the right physical attributes, drives home (or jumps onto the back seat), get pregnant and produce a child into this world. If this child later on asks his mother who his father is, and she replies 'don't you ever ask this question again', the law unfortunately would be on her side because her right to sexual freedom is first priority. It just so happens that In other systems the priority is the other way round!!! And who is this mythical woman who decides to get pregnant just like that? BTW the law has nothing to do with her kid's question. The right to know who your biological father is has become quite important and has resulted in a decrease in sperm donors. Adopted kids have the legal right to find out they are adopted, and to find out who their parents are, contrary to what Alzawahri tells you about us unbelievers in the west. |
Re: Lack of Clothes - again
Free sex, women of loose moral fibre at al all seem to be of concern only to those who have no access or experience of them. Funny that

Pure ignorance. It's what you do on the internet that makes it haram or not, Mr Fatwa.
You really need to know your facts about a subject before issuing a blanket statement on something you have very little knowledge on. Reading the Daily Mail and The Sun doesn't count either. It is you folks that really need your brains washed so please lift the veils from your hearts and minds. |

I guess the worst I've seen was a lady of Arabic appearance - and I would guess Lebanese - in a very, very short skirt and vest top. She looked more ridiculous than offensive as she was rather advanced in years. Plus most of the models promoting things are wearing tiny bits of tight clothing. So many mixed messages. Yes, lots of teens wearing tiny shorts but I wouldn't expect anything less of them. You're supposed to rebel in your teens and the opportunities to rebel are few and far between in the UAE. Might as well get your legs out! I certainly did when I was 15 and, amazingly, managed not to turn into a slag. Who knew? I've seen people on twitter saying they've seen women's shaving marks...Really? I've never seen that even on the beach. there's so much hysteria. And Norsk is right, it is exactly like a witch trial. It's always women they are shrieking about and even expats are threatening other expats with the police. Pram and toys. Pathetic behaviour. |

I see so its a case of let's bend those moral guidelines when it suits us. That's fine was just checking.
Please don't make comments in about a topic you have virtually NO knowledge about. Others are discussing ideas, you on the other hand are making statements backed by poorly thought / cheap examples. |

YOU are the one with the agenda. How is that bending any guidelines? It's like saying I shouldn't use a car as they are used by drug dealers to carry out their illegal business. Anymore lame examples?

Actually I'm trolling you and quite successfully it would seem. No agenda here, us unbelievers are too lax to have an agenda, it's that lack of moral fibre you see.
A very strong theme in this region is guaranteeing who your father is. Not for the child so much as making sure the father is happy. The father might well go on to marry other women and have children with them but if a mother did that (as it seems the sluts in the west are likely to do, though without marrying ) men like Desert Dwellers and Mathematist get frothy. I just wish the tweeters had got so enthusiastic about serious matters. Death on the roads, FGM, plight of the workers etc You know something that demonstrated caring in its most heartfelt sense. |

Especially as some are even *whispers* atheist. How on earth could we have a moral compass. Just impossible.

- Seatbelts for adults - Seatbelts / seats for kids, not having them bounce around the back or on the centre arm rest. - No mobiles whilst driving - No tailgating Locals and others who do the above, sometimes all at once, are threatening my life, your life, your kids life, the Indian feller in a cab's life etc etc. Those things I believe are more important than whether my Mrs can walk around Dubai Mall with a dress at her knee / below her knee / 1/8th inch above her knee. It's all irrelevant if some twat kills us on the way there. |

I am getting tired of all this, particulary the screwed up thinking that morality and being a decent person is somehow linked to religion or how a person dresses.

Being a decent human being and the attributes that go with it mean you are basically applicable to any religion you like, with a full pass to any heaven / virgins / fluffy cloud / lifetime of biscuits that comes with it. Rather than initiate a subscription to any of them, I'd rather try and be a reasonably decent chap as much as possible and accept that one day my ashes will be somebodies fertilizer / fish food in the future. |
