EXCELLENT idea on the job seeking advice and the reality of it all. I guess I was one of them people who thought it was all well and easily done Probably many others like me (I hope??!!!) who would find your info very useful indeed.
I'll really look forward to reading up on your harsh reality to job seeking in Dubai......

Let them do the donkey work, you do enough by just being here anserwing the mundane questions like where to spend NYE .....which after all is much more important.
Sorry newbies, no offence meant but you have to learn to cut those apron strings a little bit and do some research and maybe take a wee risk yourselves...we have, that's why we are here LOL

I have a very very niche job, in fact there are only 20 or so people in EMEA that can do what i do, and i know all of them. It has taken me 2 years to get the RIGHT job here.
I could have been out sooner, but i did not wish to prostitute myself just to get here. There where a few Systems Specialist and consultant jobs but whats the point in being here if you get paid crap money and cant afford the quality of life that you came out here for ??!
Instead i did a year in Saudi to get as much experience in the Middle East as possible.
Im very glad to be here, and there is not a day that goes by that i do not consider myself to be fortunate...or just plain jammy !!!!
