Default Importing DVDs

Hiya

We're moving our to Abu Dhabi (probably, might be Dubai yet depending on the other offer that's about to come through) at the end of July. We're booking a container for most of our furniture, books, general stuff and hopefully loads of DVDs.

Obviously there'll be no porn or anything, but I'm wondering if anyone's had issues bringing normal films in? Are we allowed to do it? What sorts of things are likely to get us in bother?

Cheers!

It would be haqndy if you could get them on to a portable drive.

I lost some ordinary dvd when I went to Kuwait. Just took them off me.

Hey Old Lop, lived in Kuwait for a while and this is a totally diffrent location than UAE!!!

Normal films are no problem at all. If you bring in your stuff with a moving company, they will scan the entire container at the customs, that's it. If you want to bring them in via Airport, they might ask if you carring DVDs. Be honest and say yes, that's it.

We brought in probably more than 200 DVDs. No problem at all ...

Anything about the holocaust, bible, or anything with more than passing adult content should be avoided.

A friend of mine was allowed to keep his James Bond collection but they took Ben Hur, Schindler's List and The Prince of Eygpt....go figure!

N.

PS: You might want to look through your books too...same sort of rules apply so don't bring your copy of the God Delusion by Richard Dawkins

Don't bring the Highway Code either - I think it is top of the banned book list.

Yes, my mistake I had someone bundle up my residual mixed bag of mail and stuff including a couple of DVD and sent by DHL. Did not make it. They even took my open university dvd on quantum mechanics- which, if it went to a good home is ok with me. Doubt it though.

Kuwait is better than UAE - I'm trying to get there from Oman - which is good.
