Default If you leave Dubai, WHEN do they cancel your visa?

Is it straight away - i.e. when you hand your notice in, or do they time it for when you leave? Someone told me that they can't cancel mine until I've cancelled my family's. Is that true?

They were correct...You have to cancel your dependants' visas first, and then they will cancel yours...
You may get a 6 month ban, cause if I'm not mistaken you didn't complete a year...But still, your employer has the right to even demand a death penalty, all to the discretion of the relevant gov department of course...

Littlejimmy, even if you have not completed one year if you are leaving the country the chances are that they will not place a ban upon you, if however you are changing jobs here in Dubai that is another matter.

You are correct on the other score with regards to your wife and dependants visas, they have to be cancelled before yours, after cancellation you have one month grace period to exit.

Thanks peeps. I'm planning on leaving Dubai, so a 6-month work ban is not an issue. Just wondered about the technicalities.

Got 2 solid offers. One for Doha, one for Moscow. Can't decide, but Moscow is favourite.

Then there's the potential for other offers in the next week, and I haven't heard anything from your lot yet.

Littlejimmy, Doha may be an issue as it is in the same Region i.e the Gulf, take care when you resign if that is the case.

Wishing you all the best

Yep, you will get a 6 month ban from working in the UAE. In my case I went into the office one day, signed a few papers cancelling the dependants visas and handed all passports over. Got them back a couple of days later with 'cancelled' punched through them.

Have you considered Abu Dhabi Doo at all? I dont remember it being as crazy as Dubai. Probably what Dubai was like 12 / 13 yrs ago.
